Description
How Does the Detector Work?
When a high level of carbon dioxide (CO₂) is detected in the room (2,800 ppm), the detector will immediately:
- Activate a loud audible alarm
- Turn on a red LED indicator
- Trigger a dry contact relay
This alarm state will remain active as long as the CO₂ level stays above the threshold.
Once the gas level drops below the alarm setpoint, the detector can be reset to normal operation by pressing the built-in RESET button.
Is This Level Dangerous to Human Life?
No, this level is not life-threatening. However, it is important to take action by ventilating the room or introducing fresh air using a fan or air exchange system.
CO₂ Levels and Their Effects on Humans:
- 0–400 ppm: Normal ambient level – safe
- 1000–2000 ppm: Discomfort, feeling of stuffiness
- 2000–5000 ppm: Headaches, drowsiness, reduced concentration
- TWA 5000 ppm: Maximum exposure level over 8 hours – not recommended for prolonged stay
- 5000–10,000 ppm: Unhealthy for occupancy
- 10,000+ ppm: Dangerous to human life
- 30,000 ppm (STEL): Short-term exposure limit (15 minutes)
- 50,000 ppm: Risk of asphyxiation
- 70,000 ppm: Can cause death within ~5 minutes
- >100,000 ppm: Certain death
Where Should the Detector Be Installed?
- Mount on a wall at breathing height: 1.2–1.8 meters above the floor
